One of the great joys of my long time membership in the National Speakers Association are my peers. Monica Wofford and I had the opportunity to reconnect at the recent Central Florida Christian Chamber of Commerce. Currently she is the president of the Central Florida Chapter of NSA.
Visit Monica's web site and learn about this great lady, her programs, and keynote addresses. She has pioneered the concept of Contagious Leadership.
It is funny when we say it, yet the price of not really knowing who we are as grown-ups is needlessly expensive to every aspect of our lives.
I get it! You're stretched to the max and burdened under more
commitments than you have time. Life is wrapped so tight, that you're
not sure where to begin with making your life make sense.
Now, you can test drive The On-Purpose Leader program which is based on The On-Purpose Person. Listen and watch the replay of the introductory broadcast by CLICKING HERE. You will be taken to the replay page. Be sure to click on "SLIDES" in the upper left hand corner so you can watch and listen.
The program includes four remaining teleseminars, replays, and web site support. Enrollment for this series ends: Wednesday, March 10, midnight.
Leadership of an organization carries responsibilities. Having been a business advisor and strategic management consultant for more than a couple of decades, I can tell you the single, simplest, most overlooked root of more problems in organizations is the failure to articulate, communicate, and execute based on the purpose of the organization (Po). Its absence is massively expensive; its presence nourishes the corporate culture for productive and efficient growth in people and profits.
Someone in charge, however, has to care. Is that you?
This lack of deep strategic clarity muddles every aspect of the organization. People, process, performance, profits, customer service, and operations are just a few of the functional areas informed by a potent, simple, two-word purpose statement.
Yet, purpose statements are amazingly misunderstood, unappreciated, and under-engaged. In businesses, I've seen the benefit of the leadership team knowing and executing on their purpose produce a 25% or more increase in sales and even greater percentage increases in profits.
Are you finally ready to set a strategic cornerstone and write your purpose statement? Remember, it is just a beginning, but an essential start. I recommend clients first write their personal purpose statement. Good news – today at 12:05 PM I'm offering a free introductory teleseminar based on The On-Purpose Person. You need to be registered in advance to be on the live call and web site.
It has been said there is an absence of leadership today. Actually, I think it is an absence of maturity stemming from the reality that we're still trying to figure out what to do with ourselves when we grow up. Certainly, there's a benefit to having a childlike curiosity and faith. But, let's talk growing up here - stepping into adulthood with both feet firmly planted on the ground as a leader of one's life who is growing in experience, wisdom, discernment, and judgment.
The absence of leaders may well reflect deeper challenges, the absence of mentors and the value of relationships over time. This On-Purpose® Minute invites you to explore four attitudes of maturity. How are you coming along?
The On-Purpose® Leader Teleseminar Series begins this Thursday at noon, Eastern. You need to be registered to join. The first session is free. Click Here to learn more and register.
Let's continue to explore The On-Purpose® Principle or Pillar One of The On-Purpose Business. In your last On-Purpose Business Minute, we covered the magic of the purpose of the person aligned with the purpose of the organization.
Today, we'll further dissect The On-Purpose® Principle up close and personal.
By the way, the Purpose of the Organization doesn't just refer to a business. A marriage, family, hospital, agency, team, department, church, or club are just a few examples of the many organizations where this is applicable.
"How can I be a better leader?" is a question I am regularly asked. Rather than give you leadership tips and secrets, I'm taking you to the central, inescapable baseline of leadership. I call it The On-Purpose® Principle. By understanding and applying this concept to your life and work, you'll see that leadership comes naturally rather than being a forced effort.
Over the next couple of On-Purpose Business Minutes, let's take to the white board for insights and practical application of the On-Purpose Principle so you can create high alignment of your personal purpose with your organizational purpose.

Admit it! If you've fallen into a rut of sorts, a kind of low-grade living that isn't all that bad, but just not all that good, then today is the perfect day to examine and explore your possibilities. In this classic On-Purpose® Minute, awaken to the opportunities to alter the course of your life and place it on an on-purpose trajectory.
Can I TRUST you? is a question living at the heart of every relationship. Trust is a precious and valuable state of being. Trust in business is an essential and valuable character quality that pays dividends. Squander your trust and your ruin your business.
By way of negative example, our dog, Hamlet (shown with Anne), is a great family dog, but a shining example of the cost of lost trust. His intelligence surprises us regularly. His one great flaw is being off a leash. Within the home and fenced back yard, Hamlet will come when called. Off the leash, however, at the dog park or when he escapes, Hamlet is a wild man. He will be gone for hours. Generally, he circles the house in large walk abouts through the neighborhood.
This disobedience comes with a price. He rarely gets to go to the dog park to play with other dogs. When it is time to leave, he won't. As a result of this distrust, Hamlet loses out on all sorts of privileges and benefits that a more trustworthy pooch would receive. I hope today's On-Purpose Business Minute gives you paws for thought.
Could it be that loss and, more importantly, learning how to deal with loss are simply as organic to life as the vegetable section at your local Whole Foods store? In The On-Purpose Person, I reference fighters, floaters, fleers, and flitters as "styles" for dealing with stress and life. Learning to navigate loss is important to our health, well-being, and finances.
In today's On-Purpose® Minute, let's explore the gains to be found in loss! You might be surprised just how effective loss can be to our long-term benefit.
